PROUD PAST - - - BRIGHT FUTURE

In April, 2004, the City of Belton and the National Civic League, has agreed to work with the community's leaders and stakeholders on a long-term visioning and strategic planning process.

The National Civic League has facilitated these types of community planning projects across the country.  You can visit their website at www.ncl.org for more information.  There are many examples of specific outcomes as a result of their involvement in cities all across the U.S.!

The purpose of this project is to achieve long-term community directed goals, and in the process, ensure that the interests and concerns of all segments of our community are well represented.  Change is often difficult and challenging, with all stakeholders working together, we can achieve our goals.  Many issues have to be concluded through a cooperative dialog, achieving the best possible solution for all concerned.  The Vision Team responsibility is to operate in an open and positive manner, with broad-based participation to produce recommendations that can be reached through consensus.  With diverse thinkers at each table, we will utilize this forum for the betterment of Belton. We are all proud of Belton's past, and look forward to our bright future.

Our Vision Team members consist of residents, community leaders, city staff, elected officials, representatives of civic and professional organizations, business owners, and parents.

The Vision Team members were focused on specific areas, called Key Performance Areas (KPA's).  These  areas umbrella the many concerns the stakeholders have indicated are vitally important and must be addressed in developing a long-term (15-25 Years) community development plan.  View the works of the KPA committees, download a copy of the entire Vision Plan, and sign up to be a volunteer on VAST (Vision Action Support Team).  Help the Vision Team and Belton - be a volunteer!

Our website is designed to keep you (our community) informed, we hope you will frequently visit our site.  We are also vitally interested in the on-going inputs and recommendations of all community stakeholders and encourage those interested to contact us and share your vision and concerns for Belton.
